  • Marine Anchor Chain Types

(1)According to the link structure: the anchor chain is divided into two types: the stud chain and the studless hain. Under a same condition, the strength of the stud chain is larger than that of the studless chain. The tensile strength is about 20% bigger, and the deformation is small, and it is not easy to twist when stacked. Therefore, it is widely adopted on the ship. The studless chain is usually used only for small boats. (2)According to the manufacturing methods: chain can be divided into cast steel chain (cast steel cable), welded chain( weldedcable) and forged chain (forged cable), etc. The characteristics of welded chain are: have advanced technology, simple, low manufacturing cost, high quality, more than other kinds of anchor chain. Currently it is widely used for ships. Cast steel anchor chain is characterized by high strength, good rigidity, no looseness and long service life. The disadvantage is that the manufacturing cost is higher and the impact load is poor. (3)According to the grade of steel: there are three grades: Al, A2 and A3. The bigger the grade, the bigger he intensity. The steel grades used for the production of stud chain are classified as AMl, AM2 and AM3, and AMl anchor chain steel is composed of sedation steel, AM2 and AM3 chain steel is composed of sedation and fine crystal processing steel. For example, you can choose marine airbags with diameters no less than 1.5m when the support block is 1m in height. For marine salvage airbags, the most important thing you need to concern is buoyancy, which determine the diameter and length of rubber body. (Note: If marine salvage airbags are going to be used in deep water, the pressure of airbag should be taken into consideration to make sure that the rubber body can withstand high hydraulic pressure.) For heavy lifting airbags, the diameter is determined by component plies. Normally, mid-pressure airbags are suitable to lift light items such as vessels whose launch weight is below 2000 tons. High pressure airbags are designed for heavy duty work. Normally, airbags with 6 piles are suitable for almost all types of lifting work, but for some rugged applications, airbags with 7 or 8 piles are needed. For instance, when lifting heavy structures with limited contact surface, airbags with higher pressure and more piles are the best choice for providing higher safety. How to Choose the effective length. For single row arrangement, the length of them should no less than the maximum width of the item you want to move. For two rows of airbags, the total length of marine airbags can be estimated to be the effective length plus the diameter of marine airbags.
